Fathers and Daughters

A couple of weeks ago I took my three oldest daughters (I have 5) out for a nice gourmet dinner. This was a “rain check” event from the Spring. We had planned to go to a father/daughter banquet this past Spring but a last-minute trip to New Hampshire for a funeral overtook the date.

So we planned a rain check…a nice dinner out with just me and them at a nice restaurant.  We chose Connected based on some recommendations from some friends and based on the accessibility of the menu.  Moriah and Elsie can be pretty adventurous, but I needed something where Margary (who isn’t) would have something she’d try.

We loved it.  It was beautiful inside, kind of like eating in an Italian sidewalk cafe (or at least in my imagination), and the food and service were impeccable.  I had a wild boar tenderloin that was just amazing (and brought some home to Theresa as well), and the kids all had something italian:  eggplant Parmesan, fettucine alfredo, ravioli.  And then dessert!  It was a wonderful, special time with my daughters, albeit very much delayed from what I’d hoped when we had to cancel the banquet.

The four of us should get to head up to the banquet again next Spring, but for now we’ve got a great memory from right here in Peoria of a wonderful dinner out together.

Here’s a picture of us before dinner, all dressed up:
